Summit Common Council Hosts Listening Sessions in June 2026
Robert Hargrove · Union County Life
Summit's Common Council has scheduled two informal listening sessions in June 2026 where residents can bring concerns, questions, and suggestions directly to local elected officials.
The remaining session takes place on Monday, June 22, from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. at the Jordan Glatt Youth Lounge inside the Summit Community Center at 100 Morris Avenue. The first session was held on June 8. Union County Life obtained the announcement from the City of Summit's official news feed, posted May 28, 2026.
How the Sessions Work
The sessions are designed to give residents a relaxed setting to speak with council members without the time limits that apply during formal council meetings. No registration is required. Residents are welcome to stop by at any point during the session window.
Why Only Some Council Members Will Be Present
Because these sessions are not classified as official public meetings under New Jersey law, the number of elected officials present at each session will be limited to comply with the Open Public Meetings Act.
