Blue Acres Fall Volunteer Event in Linden This October

7th Ward Community Center (Activities take place at the neighboring Tremley Point Blue Acres Site) · 2907 Tremley Point Road, Linden, NJ 07036

The Blue Acres Fall Volunteer Event is a hands-on community service day in Linden, New Jersey. Organized by Mayor Derek Armstead, the City of Linden, Infineum, Phillips 66 Bayway Refinery, and Sunoco LP, the event focuses on environmental stewardship at the Tremley Point Blue Acres site. These floodplain lands are preserved to protect neighborhoods from flooding and restore natural wildlife habitats.

This event is for local residents, student groups, environmental advocates, and corporate volunteer teams who want to care for local open space. It gives community members a direct way to improve local flood mitigation land while spending a day outdoors working alongside neighbors.

Volunteers will help with tree and shrub planting, cage management around young plants, weeding, and general site cleanup. Organizers provide shovels, clippers, and lunch for everyone who participates. Attendees should wear sturdy work boots and bring their own work gloves.

The event takes place on Friday, October 16 from 8 AM to 3:30 PM. Everyone will meet initially at the 7th Ward Community Center, located at 2907 Tremley Point Road in Linden, before moving to the Tremley Point Blue Acres site.

There is no cost to participate in this event. To sign up ahead of time, volunteers can call the Linden Division of Engineering at 908-474-8473 or send an email with their name and phone number to the city engineering office.
