Book Club at the Union Senior Center
Union Senior Center
On the second Monday of every month, a group of readers gathers at the Union Senior Center on Rahway Avenue to do what book clubs do best — talk about what they just read, and why it stayed with them.
The Book Club is part of the ongoing programming offered by the Township of Union's Division of Senior Citizens Activities, which runs social and educational events for residents 60 and older. No previous participation is required. If you're a Union Township resident who enjoys reading and a good discussion, you're welcome to stop in.
The group is currently reading Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus — a novel about a trained chemist in the 1960s who ends up hosting a cooking show. The book has found readers across the country for its dry wit and its portrait of a woman who keeps being underestimated, and keeps proving everyone wrong. It's the kind of story that gives a book club plenty to talk about.
The club meets from 1:30 to 2:30 pm at the Union Senior Center, 652 Rahway Ave., Union, NJ 07083. Admission is free. Registration is not listed as required, but calling ahead is recommended to confirm the month's selection and any schedule changes.
