A saxophone, a flute, and a clarinet, all played by the same musician in a single evening. On Wednesday, October 21, New York jazz artist Daniel Bennett brings his group to the Westfield Memorial Library.
The Daniel Bennett Group performs from 7 to 8 p.m. as part of the Weiss Family Jazz Series at the library, 550 East Broad Street, Westfield. Union County Life shares the details so Westfield neighbors and jazz fans can reserve a seat.
Bennett plays saxophone, flute, and clarinet, joined by Koko Bermejo on drums and keyboard and Jeff Dingleron on bass. The group is celebrating its new album, “The Deconstructed Songbook.” Critics have described Bennett’s sound as a mix of modern jazz and pop with a light, folk flavored touch. He has been featured by NPR and the Boston Globe, teaches at the New York Jazz Academy, and recently played woodwinds in “Blank! The Musical,” a fully improvised musical.

The series was created through a gift to the Westfield Memorial Library Foundation in memory of Joseph and Dorothy Weiss, longtime library patrons who loved jazz.
