Destroying David Final Show in Union, NJ
DMK Black Box Theater, Union Arts Center · 1980 Morris Ave.
One last afternoon in Florence, without leaving Union. On Sunday, October 18, "Destroying David" takes its final bow at the Union Arts Center.
American Theater Group has spent two weekends presenting the East Coast premiere of the play at the DMK Black Box Theater. Emmy nominee Jason Odell Williams wrote the solo show and performs it, and Charlotte Cohn directs. A charming but troubled tour guide fears that Michelangelo's David is about to collapse, and the story becomes a funny, heartbreaking, and hopeful look at how art carries us through hard times. Union County Life readers who haven't seen it yet have one more chance.
The township calendar lists the matinee from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Union Arts Center, 1980 Morris Ave., Union. Free parking is available in Union Arts Center Lot 4, Town Hall Lot 5, and the library lots. Tickets are sold on Eventbrite through the township's calendar and at americantheatergroup.org.
After this show, the production leaves Union.
When the final curtain falls, the people in the room will be the ones who made time for it. Find more Union events, arts coverage, and community news on Union County Life.
