Westfield Memorial Library · 550 East Broad Street
Every other Saturday afternoon, a small group of crafters gathers in the Local History Room of the Westfield Memorial Library and gets to work. Some come with projects already in progress. Others come with nothing but curiosity. Both are exactly right for DreamMakers.
DreamMakers is a free, multigenerational handcrafting group organized through a partnership between MLK Westfield and the Westfield Memorial Library. It is part of MLK Westfield's (Re)Imagining Westfield initiative, a broader effort to build inclusive community programming across town. Union County Life covers events like DreamMakers because they reflect the kind of low-barrier, high-connection programming that keeps neighborhoods engaged week to week.
The group welcomes crafters of every experience level. Knitters, crocheters, quilters, and cross-stitchers have all found a place here, alongside people who have never picked up a needle or hook. Experienced members share techniques, answer questions, and sit alongside beginners in a setting that has no agenda beyond making something together. No registration is required to attend.
Sessions run from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. on alternating Saturdays at the Westfield Memorial Library, 550 E. Broad St., Westfield, NJ 07090. The group meets in the Local History Room. There is no admission fee. Union County Life recommends confirming the next session date directly with the library or MLK Westfield before attending, as occasional dates are skipped due to library closures.
