Leaf Collection for Section 5 in Berkeley Heights, NJ — November 2026
- Berkeley Heights Township NJ 07922
The Berkeley Heights Department of Public Works will collect bagged leaves at the curb in Section 5 on Friday, November 27, 2026. That is the day after Thanksgiving, so plan to have your bags out before the holiday. The Township calendar lists the pickup as all day and does not give a start or end time.
Union County Life is sharing the Section 5 details so Berkeley Heights residents can get ready. Section 5 includes streets such as Baker Avenue, Garfield Street, Kline Boulevard, Lincoln Street, Maple Avenue, Passaic Avenue, Prospect Avenue, River Road, Station Street, Summit Avenue, and Washington Street. Some streets are split. Berkeley Avenue is Section 5 between Garfield Street and Washington Street. Snyder Avenue is Section 5 between the railroad and the Passaic River. Springfield Avenue is Section 5 between Berkeley Plaza and Union Avenue at the Township line. On Plainfield Avenue, homes past the railroad near Lincoln Street are in Section 5. The full street list is at berkeleyheights.gov/sections.
Use paper biodegradable bags and stack them neatly at the curb. Put them out before your scheduled pickup date. Bags must hold leaves only. Bags with anything else, or bags left on a driveway, will be rejected and left for you, because DPW will not go onto driveways. Do not block catch basins or sidewalks. The Township has no vacuum truck, so leaves must be bagged, not raked into the road.
The Township asks residents to stick to the posted schedule, since there will be limited time to return to a section on unscheduled dates. Residents can also drop off paper bagged leaves at the DPW, 101 Berkeley Avenue, next to Town Hall, on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of the month from 9 AM to noon through December 31. The next drop off day after this pickup is Saturday, December 5. If you live on a county road, the Union County schedule has not been posted yet. County road residents with concerns can call Union County DPW at 908.789.2660.
The Township does not list a cost for this service or mention any sign up. For questions, call Berkeley Heights Township at 908.464.2700. Stay informed about Berkeley Heights news and announcements on Union County Life.
