Leaf Collection Schedule in Westfield, NJ

Curbside collection and Conservation Center · 1300 Lamberts Mill Road

Westfield’s fall leaf collection begins the week of October 19, starting with streets in Zones 2, 4, 7, 8, 9, and 10 that see the heaviest early leaf fall. The first of two full collection passes begins October 26, with crews starting in Zone 4 on the north side and Zone 9 on the south side, then moving through the remaining zones. Union County Life shares the schedule so Westfield residents know when to rake.

Leaf zones match the town’s ten curbside recycling zones. The last day to put leaves at the curb is Friday, December 4, and the final curbside pickup is expected around December 12. All dates depend on the weather.

Place leaves in narrow rows along the curb, leaving room along the gutter for water to drain and keeping piles at least 10 feet from storm drains. Leaves only: no twigs, branches, pumpkins, grass, or other yard waste, since Union County compost sites accept only leaves. Residents can also use biodegradable paper bags on the same schedule. Never park a car on a leaf pile, because a hot exhaust system can start a fire, the Westfield Fire Department warns.

Residents can drop off leaves at the Conservation Center, 1300 Lamberts Mill Road, without a permit during leaf season, with proof of residency. From October 13 to December 20, the center is open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and weekends from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., weather permitting. It is closed November 11, November 27 and 28, and December 22 through January 3. Each household can pick up up to 10 free leaf bags there with proof of residency.

Lawn care companies can bring Westfield residents’ leaves to the Conservation Center once per season for $10 per cubic yard. Stay informed about Westfield news and announcements on Union County Life.
