"Morning's at Seven" in Westfield, NJ
Westfield Community Players · 1000 North Ave. West
Four sisters, two houses side by side, and decades of family history about to boil over. Westfield Community Players opens its season this Saturday, October 3, with "Morning's at Seven," a funny and bittersweet look at family life.
Paul Osborn's play first opened on Broadway in November 1939. It follows four aging sisters in a small Midwestern town in the early 1900s, with a focus on two of them who start to question their lives and decide to make changes before it is too late. Director Greg Northam set this production in 1938. He said the story rings as true today as it did then, as families still find themselves divided over politics, culture, and technology. Union County Life readers who love live theater can catch it close to home.
The cast includes Jackie Levine as Cora Swanson, Debbie Badal as Aaronetta Gibbs, Tara Spinelli as Ida Bolton, and Sharon McGuire as Esther Crampton. Alex Oleksij plays Thor Swanson, Allen Roberts plays Carl Bolton, David Williams plays David Crampton, Dale Monroe plays Homer Bolton, and Amy Lewis plays Myrtle Brown.
Evening performances are at 8 p.m. on October 3, 9, 10, and 17. Matinees are at 2 p.m. on October 4, 11, and 18. The 150 seat theater is at 1000 North Ave. West, Westfield. Tickets are $25 per show, and season tickets are also available. Visit wcptheatre.org for tickets and audition information.
