PINK OUT Volleyball Fundraiser in Westfield, NJ
Westfield High School Gymnasium, · 550 Dorian Road, Westfield, NJ 07090
When the final point is played, both teams form a tunnel with their raised hands, and breast cancer survivors walk through to cheers from the stands. That moment closes Westfield High School's 17th annual PINK OUT volleyball fundraiser on Monday, October 12.
Westfield's freshman, junior varsity, and varsity teams will play Sparta in the Westfield High School gym, 550 Dorian Road. The freshman game starts at 4 p.m., JV at 5:30 p.m., and varsity at 7 p.m. After the varsity match, players from both schools will honor breast cancer survivors, including Westfield head coach Beverly Torok. Union County Life shares fundraisers like this so Westfield neighbors can show their support.
The money raised goes to PATHWAYS Women's Cancer Support, a program of The Connection in Summit. PATHWAYS offers free support, education, and wellness programs for women with breast or any other cancer. Last year, PINK OUT raised $25,000, which helped more than 90 women. The players start raising money before the season begins, and other school groups pitch in, including the cheerleaders, football team, student government, and community service club. "It is really special that we can help make a difference in the lives of so many women," said senior captain Annelise Bonn.
Admission is free, and donations will be accepted at the door. Raffle baskets filled with items from local businesses, food and baked goods, and $20 T-shirts will be for sale. People who can't attend can donate directly to PATHWAYS by choosing "2026 Pathways Pink Out" in the campaign menu, or by mailing a check payable to PATHWAYS/The Connection, 79 Maple St., Summit, NJ 07901, with the note "Attn: Westfield High School Girls Volleyball Pink Out Fundraiser."
