Springfield Recreation Department is offering a Running Club designed to build children's fitness,confidence, and running skills. The program emphasizes proper technique, injury prevention, and the benefits of regular exercise.

The Running Club runs for K-9th graders who live in or attend school in Springfield. Two session options are available: Tuesday, September 8–November 10, 2026, or Thursday, September 10–November 12, 2026. No classes on Tuesday, October 6 and November 3, or Thursday, October 8 and November 5. Classes meet at Meisel Avenue Park. Grades K-3rd meet at 4:15–5 p.m. Grades 4th-9th meet at 5:15–6:15 p.m.

The program highlights the importance of physical fitness training and the body's positive response to exercise. Children learn to run faster over short and long distances. Agility drills and injury prevention techniques are taught, along with introduction to endurance running, proper breathing and footwork, stretching, and more. Professional coaching instruction is provided by Megan Rezvani of High Rez Fitness. Each child receives a keepsake apparel item per session. The cost is $150 per child per day session.
