Saturdays In Motion in Plainfield, NJ — October 2026
Boys & Girls Club of Plainfield, 165 E. Front St. (rear entrance), Plainfield, NJ 07060 · 165 E. Front Street
On a Saturday afternoon in Plainfield, children with autism and their families gather in a gym to move, play, and spend time together. Volunteers lead the way, guiding the children through gym time activities. This is Saturdays in Motion, and it returns on October 24.
Saturdays in Motion is a free recreational program run by the Plainfield YMCA, part of the Greater Somerset County YMCA. The YMCA says it is the longest running nonpublic recreational program for children with autism in the United States. Union County Life is sharing this session so more Plainfield families know the program is here and open to them.
The program is for children ages 3 to 17 with autism and their families. Siblings are welcome to join. Parents must stay for the whole program. The Plainfield program offers gym time only. Pool time is offered only at the Somerset Hills YMCA.
The next session is Saturday, October 24, 2026, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Boys & Girls Club of Plainfield, 165 E. Front St., Plainfield, NJ 07060. Use the rear entrance. Fall sessions moved here from the YMCA branch office on Central Avenue. More sessions follow on November 7 and November 21.
The program is free, but every child must be registered for each session at gscymca.org/saturdays-in-motion. Walk ins are not accepted. Registration for each Saturday opens after the session before it ends. For questions, contact Leonardo Gonzalez at (908) 766-5770 or lgonzalez@gscymca.org.
