The South Plainfield Mayor's Wellness Committee hosts a Community Health Fair designed to make wellness accessible and affordable for all residents. Under one roof for four hours, community members can receive free health screenings, flu shots, CPR training, self-defense instruction, and access to health and safety resources—all without cost or advance registration.
The Community Health Fair takes place Saturday, October 10, 2026 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the South Plainfield Senior Center. The event brings together multiple organizations and services to support resident health and wellbeing.
Free health screenings cover six important health markers: blood pressure, cholesterol, glucose, stroke risk, body mass index (BMI), and pulse. No fasting is required for any screening, making it easy for residents to participate. Residents can learn about physical therapy and connect with a financial wellbeing coach to address the financial side of health decisions.
The Middlesex County Department of Public Safety and Health will offer free flu shots on-site. CPR training and demonstrations will be available throughout the event, with same-day CPR certification offered for those who complete the training. South Plainfield Police Sergeant McCoid will present alongside a canine officer, sharing information about public safety and community policing.
Free self-defense classes will be offered separately for children and adults, allowing families to learn personal safety skills in a supportive environment. The South Plainfield Elks Lodge 2298 will staff a drug awareness table, providing information and resources about substance abuse prevention and community safety.
This event is sponsored by Hackensack Meridian Health and the Middlesex County Department of Public Safety and Health, reflecting a community commitment to resident wellness. All services are completely free and open to all residents.
