
Fire at Plainfield Business Delays Raritan Valley Trains for an Up to an Hour Wednesday

PLAINFIELD, NJ — On Wednesday afternoon at around 2:30pm, Plainfield firefighters responded to a blaze at a Plainfield business on Madison Avenue, alongside the train bridge.Due to the fire's proximity to the Raritan Valley Line, train service in both directions had to stop, resulting in delays of up to 60 minutes around an hour after the call. As late as 4:30pm, there were still residual 15-minute delays.The fire was contained, and by the time TAPinto Plainfield arrived on the scene shortly after 4pm, firefighters were putting away their hoses. The ground was wet, and employees of the industrial businesses stood outside the building. According to the Office of Emergency Management, there were no injuries.
