Gov. Sherrill Takes Part in Community FoodBank Pack-A-Thon in Hillside

HILLSIDE, NJ — The Community FoodBank of New Jersey held its annual 24-hour pack-a-thon on Friday with a special guest.Gov. Mikie Sherrill spent time volunteering at the Hillside facility and packed some meals for neighbors in need.“We were honored to have the Governor join us for a very important event that we look forward to every year,” Elizabeth McCarthy, president & CEO of the Community FoodBank of New Jersey, said in a news release. “In a challenging budget year, Governor Sherrill’s leadership and commitment to renewing funding that provides food for New Jerseyans in need send a powerful message about the importance of our work and the moral imperative to ensure that everyone in the Garden State has enough to eat. We’re grateful.” The 24-hour pack-a-thon started at 9 a.m. on Friday, April 10.It was launched at the end of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2022. Every year, volunteers rotate through two-hour shifts over 24 hours to sort and pack food for distribution,
