HILLSIDE, NJ — An eighth-grade student from Hillside Innovation Academy is being recognized for her financial savvy after earning top honors in a statewide competition.Uwaila Agheyisi was named one of seven winners in the 2026 Stock Market Challenge hosted by the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. Zeta Nu Lambda Chapter, a program designed to teach students real-world investing skills and financial literacy.The four-week virtual challenge, held throughout March, brought together 96 middle and high school students from across New Jersey and beyond. Participants were tasked with managing a simulated investment portfolio valued at $100,000, allowing them to explore market trends, develop strategies, and make informed financial decisions in a hands-on environment.Through a combination of expert-led instruction and interactive simulation, students gained valuable insight into the fundamentals of investing and money management.As one of the top performers, Agheyisi will receive $100 invested into a custodial brokerage account, providing a real-world start to her financial journey.Program organizers said the initiative aims to empower young people with the knowledge and confidence to make smart financial choices, preparing them for long-term success.
