
Longtime Rahway Resident, Beloved Community Member, Mrs. Frankie Bailey Dies at 75

RAHWAY, NJ — Mrs. Frankie Bailey, a beloved caregiver, community member, and friend to many, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, compassion, and service. She was born on June 25, 1950, in Charlotte, North Carolina. As a military wife, Mrs. Bailey lived in many places, including Hoboken and Jersey City, New Jersey; Bermuda; Fort Lauderdale and Jacksonville, Florida; and Buffalo, New York. In 1989, she settled in Rahway, New Jersey, where she became a cherished and deeply respected member of the community.Mrs. Bailey began caring for children at just 14 years old, a passion that grew into a lifelong calling. In the 1970s, she opened her own home daycare, where her door was always open to families in need. Mrs. Bailey was known for her kindness, generosity, and willingness to help others. She was truly a people person—someone who listened without judgment and gave selflessly of herself. Although she officially retired in 2022, she continued caring for children until her final days.In recognition of her lasting impact and dedication to the community, Mrs. Bailey was honored in 2024 as one of the “8 Unseen Rahway Rockstars” by the City of Rahway’s Social Justice Commission.While she had no biological grandchildren, she was a grandmother in every sense of the word to the many children she cared for over the years. She is survived by her loving daughter, Jean’ette Bailey; her sister, Gloria Smith; one sister-in-law; and three brothers-in-law, along with a host of extended family members and the many children and families whose lives she touched.Mrs. Bailey will be remembered for her warmth, strength, and lifelong dedication to others.
