Roselle Board Meeting Spotlights District Success

ROSELLE, NJ — The Roselle Board of Education's meeting on Monday highlighted district successes, transparent communication and commitment to the community.While the 2026-2027 Roselle Public School Budget was the main focus of the evening’s agenda, the meeting included updates from the board's President and the district Superintendent as well as action on various resolutions.Board President’s Report:Board President Dr. Courtney Washington acknowledged the Kindergarten Success Academy’s faculty and staff for their recognition as a State and National School of Character.“That team worked really hard to get that designation,” Washington stated. “And it’s no small feat, so we thank you.”She also mentioned that the Middle States Accreditation is still ongoing for the high school and wished students a successful testing week as statewide exams commenced. She also recognized the Roselle Rams’ recent achievements for their Boys and Girls Track Team, as well as the Boys JV and Varsity Volleyball Teams.Superintendent’s District Updates:Superintendent Dr. Nathan L. Fisher reminds residents that registration for the 2026-2027 preschool program (for ages three to four) and the Kindergarten Success Academy (for age five) must be completed before October 1st. The preschool lottery submission deadline is May 1st at 4 p.m. Residents should visit the district’s website for full registration details.He noted that the district expects to receive a response this week regarding the final funding approval for the new school facility from the NJ Department of Education.“And just for the record, that new school that we’re planning for, we are very excited to know that this new facility will become a pre-K to 2 [second grade] facility,” he announced.Dr. Fisher also provided the Harassment, Intimidation and Bullying (HIB) Investigation report for April with a total of 13 incidents that were reported and investigated, seven that were confirmed and six that were not confirmed. Board Action: The board approved the following measures with eight yes votes and one absence:Recognizes Teacher Appreciation WeekRecognizes May 2026 as National Mental Health Awareness MonthRecognizes April 2026 as School Volunteer Appreciation MonthApproves the Harassment, Intimidation and Bullying (HIB) Investigation Reporting for April Roselle families are encouraged to check the district's weekly publication, the Rambling newsletter, which highlights updates on school events, academic milestones, athletic achievements and community opportunities.The next Board of Education regular meeting is scheduled for Monday, May 18, beginning at 7 p.m. at the Abraham Clark High School Auditorium, and it will also be live-streamed on the district’s YouTube page.
