
Union County Valor Awards to Honor Elizabeth First Responders

SPRINGFIELD, NJ - The Two Hundred Club of Union County will recognize the bravery and dedication of local first responders during its 57th Annual Valor Awards Luncheon on Friday, May 15, 2026.The event will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Hilton Garden Inn Springfield, bringing together community members, public safety officials, and families to honor police officers and firefighters who have demonstrated exceptional courage in the line of duty.Each year, honorees are nominated by their department leadership and selected by the Club’s Valor Committee for actions that go above and beyond the call of duty—often in life-threatening situations. Since its founding in 1968, the organization has recognized more than 500 police officers, firefighters, and state troopers for their heroism and selfless service.Among the recipients are Elizabeth police officers Matthew Almeida and Max Mejia. The program will also feature the presentation of $20,000 in scholarships awarded to the children of active police officers and firefighters, supporting their academic achievements and future goals.Tickets for the event are $100 per person and can be purchased by visiting www.uc200club.org.
