
Authorities Investigating East Third Street Shooting in Plainfield

PLAINFIELD, NJ — On Sunday at around 11am, there was a shooting on East Third Street in the vicinity of Milt Campbell Field on Plainfield's East End. Police and EMS personnel were observed on the scene shortly after the incident.The investigation is being handled by the Union County Prosecutor's Office, who told TAPinto Plainfield that they are not releasing any information due to an ongoing investigation.Following the incident, multiple publicly-available emergency radio transmissions indicated an assailant allegedly fled west on East Third Street. The calls also indicated a victim was given CPR while surrounding streets were blocked off.At around 10:30pm, TAPinto Plainfield observed a car being towed by the Union County Police. Emergency radio indicates this is in relation to a homicide investigation.However, authorities have not confirmed that the investigation is related to Sunday’s shooting. The Prosecutor’s Office is also investigating a March 28 gun homicide on the city’s West End, and no updates have been released about that case, nor has the victim’s identity, age, or gender been given.TAPinto Plainfield will provide more information on this shooting, and the March 28 murder, as it becomes available.
