Baseball: Union and Dayton Split Two-Game Series

UNION, NJ – Union scored six runs in the first inning and held on for a 7-5 baseball victory over Dayton on Tuesday.The decision completed a split of the two-game, two-day series between the teams after Dayton had rallied in the bottom of the seventh on Monday at Ruby Park for a 9-8 victory.In Tuesday's game, Jayden Walton and Ramon Contreras each had a single and two RBI for Union (8-11), which led, 6-2, after the first inning.Winning pitcher Matteo Martinez allowed four hits in six innings for the win.In Monday's game, Dayton (6-12) came back from an 8-4 deficit in the bottom of the seventh inning. Patrick Ferguson hit two home runs and drove in five runs for the Bulldogs. Nico Davila went 3-for-3, Brady Teixeira had two hits and two RBI and Jackson Babiarz had two hits and one RBI for Dayton.Mark Womack went 2-for-5 with and RBI and Maddox Faramin was 2-for-4 with an RBI for Union on Monday.
