MOUNTAINSIDE, NJ — The Rotary Club of Mountainside recently traded a traditional meeting room for a golf simulator bay, hosting a casual meet-up at GolfCube Social for an evening of conversation, connection, and indoor golf. The event gave current members, prospective members, and community supporters a chance to gather in an informal setting while learning more about Rotary’s service-based mission. Mountainside Mayor Paul Mirabelli attended, along with Rotary members and other local supporters. For the club, the meet-up offered a relaxed way to build fellowship, welcome new faces, and continue strengthening its presence in the community.Marlene Perez-Santalla, a Rotary member, Realtor at Compass Realty, and organizer of the event, said the evening reflected both Rotary’s community spirit and its support for local businesses.“This event was a great opportunity to support a new local business while bringing our Rotary group and the community together in a fun way,” Perez-Santalla said. She thanked the GolfCube Social team for welcoming the group and making Rotarians feel at home.A Local Venue for ConnectionGolfCube Social, which opened in December, served as the host venue for the Rotary gathering.Throughout the evening, Rotarians and prospective members mingled while trying their hand at the simulators — some working on their golf swing, others swinging a club for the first time. Guests could test their shots on virtual courses, watch swing playback, and get a feel for how indoor golf technology tracks movement, distance, and course conditions. The golf setting gave the evening a natural icebreaker, allowing guests to talk, laugh, and connect between swings.Rich Bevensee, the golf fitter and golf technician expert at GolfCube Social, said the business was opened by Tarun Niolani and includes six indoor golf simulators, an on-site golf professional, and a separate party room with two adjoining simulators that can be used for group gatherings.According to Bevensee, the simulator system includes more than 300 courses, including real courses and digitally designed options. He said the mats can move to reflect course conditions, including changes in slope and lie, and include hitting surfaces meant to simulate fairway, rough, and sand.Bevensee said the space was designed with both recreation and social connection in mind.“We want you to feel at home here,” he said. “We want people to make this a social event.”Rotary Looks to Grow Local EngagementThe Mountainside Rotary event also served as an opportunity to welcome people who may be interested in getting more involved in the community. The event flyer encouraged residents to “come check us out” and invited guests to connect with local professionals while learning about Rotary’s community service projects.Rotary clubs bring together community members, business leaders, and volunteers who want to support service efforts locally and beyond. In Mountainside, the club continues to create opportunities for residents to connect through fellowship and service.Residents interested in learning more about the Rotary Club of Mountainside may contact Rose Sinisi at rotaryrose@yahoo.com or 908-625-7097.
