Clark Police Dept. Conducts E-Bike Enforcement
Union County Life News Desk · Union County Life
CLARK, NJ — On Saturday, May 2, the Clark Police Juvenile Bureau, supplemented by officers from the Patrol Division and detectives from the Detective Bureau, conducted an e-bike enforcement detail at Clark Commons and other areas of the township. This was the second proactive enforcement detail conducted this spring. These details are a continuation of similar details conducted in the summer of 2025. As fast as the weather warmed up this April, so did the complaints of juveniles riding e-bikes in a dangerous manner within the township. During these details, officers focused on education of the new laws that go into effect in July and enforcement of reckless operation, riding in prohibited areas, and failure to adhere to traffic laws. The department’s goal is to reduce the risk of serious injury and improve overall public safety. Police Director Patrick Grady stated, “The Clark Police Department will not take a reactive approach when it comes to public safety. We are committed to addressing dangerous behavior before it results in serious injury or loss of life. These proactive enforcement efforts will continue for as long as necessary to ensure our roads and public spaces remain safe for everyone.”As a result of the details, 16 curbside warnings were issued, eight juveniles were taken into short-term custody, 16 summonses were issued, four e-bikes were impounded, and one adult e-bike rider was arrested following a foot pursuit. The Clark Police Department reminds all e-bike operators to understand and follow New Jersey laws, operate responsibly, and remain mindful of pedestrians and other motorists. Residents are encouraged to report ongoing concerns to the Clark Police Department so they can be addressed promptly. Information regarding the law can be found on the Clark Police Facebook page.[Don’t miss any TAPinto Clark news.
