
Elizabeth Organizations, Artist Receive Union County HEART Grants

ELIZABETH, NJ — Eleven organizations in Elizabeth, in addition to a local artist, are among the recipients of a portion of $100,000 awarded through the 2026 Union County HEART Grant Program.HEART, which stands for history, education, arts reaching thousands, was awarded to 81 artists, historians and non-profit organizations in Union County.According to a news release, here are the recipients and the grant amount:Dario Scholis, $800.00Elizabeth Avenue Partnership, $1,500.00Elizabeth Public Library, $1,000.00Elizabeth Renaissance Foundation, $1,500.00Groundwork Elizabeth, $1,450.00Haitian Flag Day Planning Committee of New Jersey, $1,450.00Historical Society Elizabeth NJ, $800.00Institute of Music for Children, $1,500.00Jefferson Park Ministries, $1,500.00Jewish Family Service of Central New Jersey, $1,200.00Josephine’s Place, $1,650.00YMCA Association of Eastern Union County, $1,300.00 “We are proud to support the individuals and organizations who create meaningful opportunities for our residents to connect through arts, history and education,” Union County Commissioner Chairman Joseph C. Bodek said in a news release. “The HEART Grant Program helps make these experiences accessible and keeps our communities connected. At its core, this program supports the people who make Union County a vibrant place to live.” The HEART Grant Program was created in 1988 by the Union County Board of County Commissioners to support local arts and programs.
