Goodbye Doner Kebab, Hello Cookies N’ Cream: Coming Soon to Downtown Westfield
Union County Life News Desk · Union County Life
WESTFIELD, NJ — Changes to downtown Westfield's restaurant scene are afoot as several eateries have closed and new ones are lined up to open.On Broad Street last month, German Doner Kebab, which opened in 2023, closed and dirty soda shop Fizzy Pop opened a few doors down in what used to be Claire's. Also on Broad Street, two shops that offer cookies and ice cream — Insomnia Cookies and Cookies N’ Cream, are expected to open soon, giving ice cream sandwich shop The Baked Bear some competition. They're not the only ones. On the south side, trendy PopUp Bagels is moving into the former Westfield Seafood location, possibly giving long-established Manhattan Bagel next door a run for its money. One family-owned Westfield business announced on Monday that it has plans to expand in town. Kirshenbaum Baking Co. owner Jeff Kirshenbaum announced on Facebook that he and his wife, Uyen, will be opening a second Westfield shop on Quimby Street where Westfield Taqueria recently closed.“But this time we're going back to our restaurant roots,” he said in a video. “We're opening something more personal in downtown Westfield, the town that we love and community that's really embraced us from the moment we got here. And that's all I can say for right now, but we can't wait to share more details.”
