How My Mom Found Her Strength (and Routine) at The Daily Pilates
Union County Life News Desk · Union County Life
SUMMIT, NJ – As Mother’s Day approaches, it feels like the right moment to reflect not just on motherhood, but on the strength and balance that come with it. For my mom, Gemma, that strength has taken shape through her time at The Daily Pilates. From the beginning, The Daily Pilates stood out — not intimidating or exclusive, but warm, welcoming, and personal. That kind of environment made it easy to keep coming back, not out of obligation, but because it genuinely felt good to be there. What started as a goal of coming 2–3 times a week quickly became something more. Before she knew it, two classes turned into four, then into showing up consistently as part of her routine.Coming from a dance background, I’m used to focusing on technical precision and high-intensity training. Pilates became a different kind of reset — one that allowed both of us to reconnect with our bodies in a more intentional way. Some of my favorite moments are the Sunday mornings we share together on the reformer when our schedules align.Beyond the physical aspect, what’s kept my mom coming back is the sense of community. She’s not just another person in class — she’s welcomed by name, met with genuine energy, and surrounded by familiar faces. There’s a shared sense of accountability and encouragement that makes it feel like more than just a workout. The instructors play a big part in that experience. You can really feel how invested they are — not just in their teaching, but in the community. It’s clear they take pride in being there, which says a lot about the culture behind the scenes and the kind of environment that’s been created. With over 340 classes under her belt, it’s hard for Gemma to pick just one favorite memory. But one that stands out is the introduction of themed classes — especially a boy bands session led by her instructor, Stephanie, that brought both challenge and joy into a single class. This Mother’s Day, I’m incredibly grateful she found a space like The Daily Pilates — one that pours into her strength, supports her consistency, and gives us moments to share together.
