Iherobiem of Jonathan Dayton H.S. Wins Union County Championship in Long Jump

SPRINGFIELD, NJ — Jonathan Dayton High School delivered a strong showing at the 2026 Union County Track & Field Championships, highlighted by a county title, four total podium finishes, and multiple top‑10 performances in sprints, distance, hurdles and field events.Dayton senior Chidiogo Iherobiem won the Union County title in the boys long jump with a leap of 23‑7.25, securing Dayton’s lone gold medal of the meet.Iherobiem added two more top‑five finishes:110m Hurdles — 3rd place (15.46)Triple Jump — 4th place (44‑4.25) His all‑around performance made him one of the most versatile athletes in the championship field. Distance runner Elliott Reines earned a silver medal in the boys 3200m, clocking 9:19.07 to finish second overall. Junior Sarah Thelusca of Dayton placed third in the girls triple jump, landing at 33‑10.25. Senior thrower Abigail Rowley added another podium finish for Dayton, placing third in the girls shot put with a throw of 33‑11.
