Kenilworth's Harding Elementary School Newspaper Publishes Article 'Keeping Harding Happy'

KENILWORTH, NJ - The fifth issue of Harding Elementary School's newspaper Let's HAWK About It! was recently published. Harding pupil Angelina Dias wrote the following article about the great things the students are doing in school. Angelina Dias Kindergarten: Kindergarten has had fun celebrating March with Read Across America, St. Patrick's Day, and finally celebrating Spring. Lots of crafts, lots of reading, and lots of luck! First Grade: First graders have been working hard reading and writing Non-Fiction texts. They have shared their expertise on different topics in their “All About” books. Second Grade: The second graders are having fun learning about money and time. They are also learning how to decompose 3-digit numbers and measuring in math. In writing, they are learning their O, U, and GH sounds. They made Flat Stanleys and took them on an adventure over spring break. Third Grade: Third Grade is busy working with fractions and fraction equivalence. We are also new authors of fictional narratives! Fourth Grade: Fourth grade went on their field trip to the Sterling Mines. Mrs. Folgar said that they had fun exploring on their trip. In writing, they just finished writing their editorials. In math, the fourth graders are learning fractions. Fifth Grade: Fifth Graders visited the Liberty Science Center for their field trip. Some of the exhibits that they enjoyed were the touch tunnel, the T-Rex Experience, the Infinity Center, Pixel Art, and Our Hudson Home. They are dividing fractions in math and are finishing up the fiction unit. Fifth graders read Number the Stars. Holocaust survivor Maud Dahme came for a visit to recount her experience as a hidden child during World War II.
