NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ - The New Providence High School Youth and Government Club had an incredible performance at the annual New Jersey Youth and Government Conference, held April 24-26, 2026. “New Jersey Youth and Government has been educating students in civic engagement and public speaking since its inception in 1938. The program culminates every year in a three-day legislative simulation that offers more than 400 delegates the opportunity to debate pertinent state issues, engage in servant leadership, and most importantly, forge lifelong relationships. Students attending the NJ YAG conference get an opportunity to enhance what they would learn in a traditional civics class by actively simulating the entire process legislation follows before becoming law. Delegates are able to participate as senators and assemblypeople, justices and lawyers, media members, and more.” – NJYAG.orgThe following group of students, all sophomores, excelled on an individual level. Lenna Ingersoll won Outstanding Legal Brief. Achyut Vinoth Kumar was selected as the Outstanding Delegate of the Lobby Corps. Ben Weinstein was chosen to be an alternate to the prestigious Conference on National Affairs or CONA, a rare and impressive accomplishment. Sofia GalloMora was chosen as a full delegate to CONA — one of only 25 students across the entire state of New Jersey to receive this honor. And finally, New Providence High School was named an Outstanding Delegation, a reflection of the hard work and leadership students demonstrated throughout the conference.
