Rahway Academy Holds Spanish Class Action Verbs Egg Hunt!

Union County Life News Desk · Union County Life

RAHWAY, NJ — The Rahway Academy Spanish classes engaged in an action verb egg hunt before the spring break. This activity turned vocabulary review into a spirited competition, blending movement with quick-thinking language skills. How the Challenge WorkedThe classroom was transformed into a hunt zone, with colorful eggs hidden in every nook and cranny. Inside each egg was a slip of paper featuring a common Spanish action verb, such as correr (to run), cantar (to sing), or bailar (to dance). The Rules of the HuntStudents searched the room to locate hidden eggs. Once an egg was opened, they brought their word to the teacher. If the translation was correct, they received a tally mark. After checking in, students placed the eggs back in their original hiding spots. This ensured that the opportunity remained fresh for every student to find and translate the same verbs throughout the lesson.Collaboration and Consistent PracticeA lesson like this highlights a fundamental truth about learning Spanish: language is a skill that must be practiced to be mastered. Constant, active practice, especially in a fast-paced environment, takes students beyond simple memorization and helps them start using the language naturally. What made the day even more special was the collaboration. As the competition progressed, it was inspiring to see many students stepping up to help their peers with difficult translations. This peer-to-peer support turned the classroom into a community of learners, proving that while we practice to improve our own skills, we also grow stronger when we help others succeed![Don’t miss any TAPinto Rahway news.
