
Rahway Academy Students Participate in Jr. Minuteman Games on April 23

RAHWAY, NJ — On Thursday, April 23, the Rahway Academy participated as one of 17 teams in the Jr. Minuteman Games, a relay-style meet for middle schoolers. The Rahway team performed exceptionally well.For the boys, a total of four medals were won. The team of Marquie Jeter, Gabe Medero, Jasaad Medley, and Justin Medley (can you think of two kids more appropriately named for an event?) finished first out of 17 teams in the 800m sprint medley relay. The same team also finished first in the 4 x 200m relay.The team of Dominick Volpe, Jasaad Medley, Justin Medley, and Gabe Medero also finished first in the 4 x 100m relay. Dominick Volpe, Naqaul Vaughn, Jassad Medley, and Justin Medley finished 2nd in the 4 x 400m relay.For the girls, the team of AliyaMarie Moncion, Dy'Mirah Smith-Kennedy, Londyn Alexander, and Adyson Chouloute finished second in the girls 4 x 100m relay. The team of Melanie Henderson, Londyn Alexander, Blessing Njoku, and Adyson Choloute finished 3rd in the girls 4 x 200m relay.Overall, it was an amazing night for the Rahway Academy track and field team.Coach Erik Lister shared, “I was so unbelievably proud of our entire team, as they all gave it everything they had against some amazing competition. As a coach, it was a proud moment to see them all compete so well and to come away with their heads held high and the medals to show them that their hard work on the track every day is indeed paying off. With the support of our athletic director, Ms. Volino, the team has everything it needs and more, and it represents the best of sports in Rahway.”Congratulations to the team.
