ROSELLE, NJ – Roselle Mayor Donald Shaw announced last week that the borough will be receiving a grant from the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection’s Solid Waste Division. The funds, totaling $42,980, is part of the Clean Communities initiative that helps local municipalities across the Garden State to promote volunteer and paid clean-up events, purchase equipment, support enforcement activities and educational opportunities. “We are always looking for ways to push Roselle toward a cleaner, greener future,” Mayor Shaw stated. “Our Department of Public Works conducts numerous programs aimed at keeping our town litter-free throughout the year. It is through programs like Clean Communities that we are able to keep our streets, open space, recreation areas and city streets clear of litter and debris.”Roselle was represented at Kean University on May 4 by Clean Communities Coordinator Jermaine Randle, Glen Nolan of the borough’s Department of Public Works, and Assistant Business Administrator Denise Wilkerson. Borough personnel and officials joined leaders from across the state to receive ceremonial checks from the New Jersey Clean Communities Council. The event doubled as an opportunity to continue the mission that Mayor Shaw embarked on when he signed a pledge through Keep America Beautiful to fight litter throughout the Roselle community.
