
Summit Girls Lacrosse Defeats Glen Ridge

GLEN RIDGE, NJ — Summit used a balanced scoring attack and a strong second half to defeat Glen Ridge, 11-8, on Saturday morning.After a tight start that saw the teams tied 2-2 after the first quarter, Summit gradually pulled ahead, outscoring Glen Ridge 7-5 over the final two periods to secure the win.Kelsey Shallcross led the Hilltoppers with four points, scoring three goals and adding an assist. Kelsey Sensenich also netted three goals, while Sara Scallon contributed two goals and an assist. Ella Peterson added two goals to round out Summit’s offensive effort.Summit’s midfield helped control possession, with Scallon and Francesca Arcella combining for 13 draw controls.In goal, Katherine Hicks made two saves to earn the win.Claudia Brennan led Glen Ridge with three goals, while Olivia Torrisi added a goal and an assist.With the win, Summit improves to 5-6 on the season.The team takes on New Providence (8-3) on Monday in the quarterfinal round of the Union County Tournament.
