
Summit Officers Join Police Unity Tour Ride Honoring Fallen Detective Matthew Tarentino

SUMMIT, NJ — Two members of the Summit Police Department began a several-hundred-mile bicycle ride to Washington, D.C. this weekend as part of the annual Police Unity Tour ahead of National Police Week.Officer Keith Kwiatek and Officer Sean Thompson departed Saturday alongside hundreds of law enforcement officers from across New Jersey to honor officers who died in the line of duty. According to the department, the Summit officers are riding in memory of the late Detective Matthew Tarentino.The officers are traveling with riders from multiple agencies, including Bedminster Police, Bridgewater Police, Maplewood Police, Monmouth County agencies, New Jersey Corrections officers, and Customs and Border Patrol officers.The department wished the riders luck “as they continue the tradition of honoring all those that have made the ultimate sacrifice.”
