
Summit Storms Into Union County Championship With 14-1 Victory

SUMMIT, NJ — The Summit Hilltoppers continued their dominant spring Thursday, overpowering New Providence Pioneers, 14-1, in the semifinal round of the Union County Tournament at Johnson High School.Fresh off an impressive interstate victory over Lincoln-Sudbury Warriors and still responding to their only loss of the season against national powerhouse Delbarton Green Wave, Summit looked sharp from the opening faceoff as the Hilltoppers improved to 12-1 overall and advanced to another county final.Summit’s 2026 season has already featured statement wins over programs including Seton Hall Prep Pirates, Westfield Blue Devils, Rumson-Fair Haven Bulldogs and Scotch Plains-Fanwood Raiders, establishing the Hilltoppers as one of the top teams in New Jersey entering the postseason stretch.Cole Sabol led the offense with four goals, while James Grainger delivered a five-point performance with two goals and three assists. Chris Davies added three goals, and Quinn Hynes scored twice as Summit’s attack overwhelmed New Providence throughout the game.The Hilltoppers also dominated possession behind Andrew Smallwood, who won 12-of-17 faceoffs, while goalkeepers Robbie Kievit and Zeller Clark-Schoeb combined to allow just one goal.Summit will now turn its attention to Saturday night’s Union County Tournament championship game against Scotch Plains-Fanwood Raiders. The title matchup is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Saturday as the Hilltoppers look to continue another memorable spring run and capture the county crown.
