
Three Roselle Women Honored With Union County SHERO Award

ROSELLE, NJ – Last week three Roselle women received the 2026 Union County SHERO Award, given to county residents who have made significant contributions to their community. Angela Calzone, Samantha Carpio, and Jariclia “Heidi” Recinos were honored with the SHERO award for their remarkable achievements in Roselle and the meaningful impact they have had in the borough. Ms. Calzone has worked in leadership at Inroads To Opportunities, an organization dedicated to giving those with disabilities the chance to participate in their communities, such as the Earth Day community clean-up that took place in Roselle last month. Ms. Carpio has had a long career across New Jersey and in Roselle as a leader in community development. She worked for two years as the borough’s director of economic development, buildings, zoning, and code enforcement, working on building a robust business community to support economic growth in Roselle.Ms. Recinos currently works as an administrative assistant at the St. Joseph the Carpenter School, a Catholic school that serves students in preschool through eighth grade, located in Roselle. The SHERO award honorees announcement coincides with Mother’s Day as the recipients were announced Monday morning to celebrate the outstanding achievements of Union County women. “Today is the perfect day to announce the names of the amazing women whose leadership, compassion, tenacity, and accomplishments have left an indelible mark on their community, Union County Commissioner Chairman Joseph C. Bodek said. “On behalf of the Commissioner Board and those who proudly nominated you, I want to congratulate each and every one of this year’s recipients – your presence on this list is not by accident. Thank you for your dedicated service to this community and for continuing to enrich the lives of those around you.”
