VFW Post 6259 Super Yard Sale Draws Steady Crowd, Raises Funds for Veterans Programs
Union County Life News Desk · Union County Life
BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ — The VFW Post 6259 hosted its first-ever Super Yard Sale, transforming its parking lot into a sprawling marketplace of donated goods — and the community showed up. From holiday decorations and tableware to bikes, coffee makers, crock pots and jewelry, there was something for just about everyone. The one thing you wouldn't find? Furniture. The post drew the line there, but everything else was fair game. The concept was simple: make an offer. All proceeds benefit the programs funded by VFW Post 6259, as well as upkeep of the post's property — giving buyers a reason to feel good about whatever they brought home.Traffic was steady throughout the morning, with organizers describing an early rush that had the energy of a successful event from the start.Any items that didn't find a new home Saturday won't go to waste. Remaining goods will be donated to Market Street Mission, extending the sale's community impact well beyond the parking lot.For Post 6259, the sale marks a new kind of community outreach — one that turns donated clutter into dollars for veterans' programs. Given the turnout on its inaugural run, it may not be the last.To stay up to date on events and happenings at VFW Post 6259, follow them on Instagram at @VFW6259_BerkeleyHeightsNJ or find them on Facebook here.
