SUMMIT, NJ — After an 0-2 start that now feels like a distant memory, Summit High School softball has ripped off 19 straight wins and continued its dominant run with a 6-3 road victory over New Providence on Saturday.No. 3 Summit (19-2, 12-0 UCC Mountain) used a game-breaking swing and a power pitching performance from Charlotte Yarnall to stay unbeaten in conference play and extend one of the hottest streaks in New Jersey softball.Yarnall broke the game open in the third inning, launching a three-run home run as part of a five-run frame that put Summit firmly in control. She finished 1-for-2 at the plate with two walks and three RBI.In the circle, Yarnall delivered another standout outing, striking out 11 batters over six innings while allowing three hits and three runs. She also issued five walks but consistently worked out of trouble to keep Summit ahead. The Hilltoppers built on that early surge with steady offense throughout the middle innings, adding insurance runs while maintaining control on the mound and closing out another conference win.Lily Harness scored twice, helping Summit’s lineup continue its balanced run production during the winning streak. Now riding 19 consecutive victories since an 0-2 start, Summit has surged to 19-2 overall and remains firmly positioned near the top of the Top 20 rankings. The Hilltoppers will look to push the streak to 18 straight on Tuesday when they travel to face Brearley in another Union County Conference matchup.
