Clark Residents Asked to Check Home Water Lines for Lead

Robert Hargrove · Union County Life

New Jersey American Water is asking Clark Township residents to identify whether their home's water service line is made of lead or galvanized steel, as part of New Jersey's statewide lead service line replacement program.

New Jersey American Water is asking Clark homeowners to complete a brief self-reporting process rather than wait for a field representative to visit in person. Union County Life obtained the announcement from Clark Township's official news feed, posted May 27, 2026.

How to Self-Report Your Water Line

Residents who complete the process online can help move the replacement program forward faster. The self-reporting form takes only a few minutes and may ask residents to answer basic questions and upload a photo of the pipe where water enters the home.

Clark Township is encouraging residents to complete the process within the next several weeks. Doing so can reduce the need for in-person visits from utility field representatives.

To start the process, residents can use the self-reporting link at Use the Self-Reporting Link Today. For full program details, visit the New Jersey American Water lead and drinking water page at amwater.com/njaw.

Why Lead and Galvanized Steel Lines Are Flagged

Lead service lines are a focus of a statewide New Jersey initiative requiring water utilities to identify and replace lines that may pose a health risk. Galvanized steel pipes are also included because they can trap lead particles from older plumbing upstream.

⚠️ The source material does not state what happens after a resident submits the self-report form — whether the utility sends a confirmation, schedules a follow-up, or contacts the homeowner about next steps. Residents should contact New Jersey American Water at amwater.com/njaw for that information.
