Downtown Westfield Gift Card Lets You Shop and Dine Local
Patricia Chen · Union County Life
The Downtown Westfield Corporation has made it easier for residents to put their spending dollars directly into the hands of local business owners. The Downtown Westfield Gift Card, available now through an online portal, works at participating restaurants, boutiques, cafés, and service businesses throughout downtown Westfield, NJ.
Union County Life readers looking for a flexible way to support the local economy will find the program straightforward. Shoppers choose the card value and format that works for them, then use it wherever participating merchants accept it.
Two formats are available. A physical card can be mailed with a personal gift message. A digital e-card can be loaded directly onto Apple Pay or Google Pay for instant use. Both formats draw from the same pool of participating downtown businesses.
One feature that sets this program apart from typical store gift cards: the funds do not expire. There is no ticking clock on the balance, which removes a common frustration with gift card programs. Cardholders can spend at their own pace at any participating location.
Purchases are currently available online only through mydowntowngiftcards.com. The full list of participating stores is posted on that site alongside the purchase option.
Programs like this one have appeared in several Union County downtowns as business improvement districts work to keep spending local rather than absorbed by national retailers or online platforms. Westfield's version is administered by the Downtown Westfield Corporation, which also coordinates events and promotions in the central business district.
