Roselle Park Offers Up to $25,000 in Home Repair Funding for Income-Qualified Residents
Roselle Park homeowners and renters who need help covering the cost of essential repairs may qualify for up to $25,000 through the borough's Home Improvement Program, known as HIP.
Union County Life has confirmed the program is currently active and accepting applications. The Borough of Roselle Park funds HIP through its Affordable Housing Trust Fund as part of the borough's affordable housing plan.
How the Funding Works
Funding is structured as a no-interest, 10-year forgivable loan. No monthly payments are required. If the homeowner maintains title, insurance, and primary residency for the full 10-year term in compliance with program guidelines, the loan is forgiven entirely.
Who Qualifies
The program covers both owner-occupied and renter-occupied units. To be eligible, the property must serve as the occupant's primary residence and must be substandard or in need of major infrastructure repair. Applicants must meet regional income limits set by the New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency, which were recently updated.
What Repairs Are Covered
Eligible repairs include:
Heating and electrical systems
Plumbing
Roof replacement and repair
Weatherization
Foundation and structural work
All repairs must conform to the New Jersey Rehabilitation Subcode (N.J.A.C. 5:23-6).
How to Apply
Community Grants, Planning and Housing LLC (CGP&H) administers the program on behalf of the borough. Applications are processed on a first-come, first-served basis until funding is exhausted.
Residents can apply through the Roselle Park HIP Portal at hip.cgph.net/roselle-park-home-improvement-program, visit the borough website at rosellepark.net/297/Home-Improvement-Program, or contact CGP&H directly at hip@cgph.net or (609) 664-2769 ext. 9.
