PSE&G Appliance Recycling Offers Free Pickup, Rebates in NJ
Robert Hargrove · Union County Life
PSE&G residential customers across Union County have until June 30, 2026, to schedule a free appliance pickup and qualify for a $150 rebate per unit under the utility's current promotional offer. After that date, the standard $50 rebate applies.
Union County Life is sharing the program details so residents don't miss the deadline — or leave money on the table before summer.
Who Qualifies for Free Pickup
The program is open to current PSE&G residential electric customers and Butler Electric customers who receive PSE&G residential gas service. The appliance must be located at the customer's PSE&G billing address, must be in working condition, and must measure between 10 and 30 cubic feet. Mini-fridges and Sub-Zero brand appliances are not eligible.
What the Rebate Covers
The standard rebate is $50 per qualifying refrigerator or freezer. Customers who schedule a pickup by June 30, 2026, and have the pickup completed by August 15, 2026, are eligible for a $150 rebate per unit under the current promotional offer. Customers should confirm the current rebate amount at pseg.com/Recycling at the time of scheduling, as rebates are subject to change.
If a customer also has a working room air conditioner or dehumidifier, PSE&G will collect it during the same appointment and provide an additional rebate per unit. ⚠️ Editor: confirm current rebate amount for air conditioners and dehumidifiers at pseg.com/Recycling before publishing. PSE&G does not schedule separate pickups for air conditioners or dehumidifiers alone.
Pickup Options and Rebate Timeline
Customers can choose between an in-home pickup or a no-contact outdoor pickup. Up to two refrigerators or freezers, and up to two room air conditioners or dehumidifiers, can be recycled per household per calendar year. Once the appliances are confirmed to be in working condition, rebate checks arrive within six weeks.
