Elizabeth Gets a Historic Tall Ship—This Weekend
Maria Torres · Union County Life
A wooden-hulled vessel that's logged more than a century of maritime history is pulling into your waterfront this weekend, and you can tour it for free. The Ernestina-Morrissey, a National Historic Landmark, will dock at Elizabeth Waterfront Marina (101 Front St.) on July 5 and 6, 2026, as part of Elizabeth Celebrates America 250—and Elizabeth is the only city in New Jersey hosting public tours of a tall ship during the nation's 250th anniversary celebration.
The Greater Elizabeth Chamber of Commerce says tours will be complimentary 20-minute guided experiences walking you through the vessel's maritime heritage. Group tours run from 9 a.m. to noon on both days (advance registration required), while public tours open from 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. (also registration required). Tour capacity is limited, so registering ahead matters—don't wait until you're standing at the dock.
