Maria Torres · Union County Life
The decorated bicycle parade kicks off at noon on Saturday, July 4, 2026, and from there, Summit's 79th annual Fourth of July Celebration takes over Soldiers Memorial Field at 5 Myrtle Ave. for a full day of live music, amusement rides, food vendors, and children's activities.
You'll hear performances from More Stars, The Sensational Soul Cruisers, Owls and Lions, and Daddy Pop throughout the afternoon. Joe Fischer's Magic Show is on the schedule too. If you're in the mood for something different, there's public viewing of a FIFA World Cup match available at the field.
The fireworks display starts at 9:15 p.m.—the annual show typically draws thousands of spectators, so plan accordingly.
If you're driving, know that road closures around the field begin at 6 p.m. The Ashland Road parking lot is closed all day, but handicap parking is available on Watchung Place and Tulip Street. The playground, tennis courts, walking track, and lower athletic fields close at 1 p.m.
