Union County Mobile Paper Shredding Events Run Through October

Union County is holding mobile paper shredding events at multiple locations through October 2026. The first event is August 16, 2026 at Kean University's Kean Hall Lot in Union.

Four additional shredding events are scheduled as summer turns to fall. Westfield will host an event on Friday, September 18 at Westfield Pool. UCNJ will hold an event on Saturday, September 26. Berkeley Heights residents can shred documents on Saturday, October 10 at the Berkeley Heights Municipal Building. The final event is Friday, October 23 at Wheeler Park in Linden.

All events run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Union County notes that events may end before 1 p.m. if the shredding truck or trucks reach capacity.

Each vehicle is limited to four bags or boxes. Each bag or box must weigh no more than 10 pounds. Union County asks that materials be brought in paper bags whenever possible, not leaf bags.

The program accepts confidential and sensitive materials only. Already-shredded paper and wet paper are not accepted. The events are garbage-free: boxes and plastic bags will be returned to you.
