Mountainside Townwide Garage Sale Set for September 19

Mountainside PAL is organizing the borough's Townwide Garage Sale on Saturday, September 19, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., rain or shine.

The event traces back roughly a decade to the Mountainside Newcomers Club, which originated the sale. About three years ago, the Newcomers Club asked PAL to take over, and PAL has run it since, according to PAL President Jeanie Ruban.

Residents who want to sell must register by 5 p.m. on Monday, September 14. Registration costs $25 per home. Each registered seller receives a lawn sign marking the property as an official participant and gets listed on both a printed sale-day map and an electronic Google Maps directory. Sellers can note the types of items available at their location when they sign up.

The printed map will be available outside the Mountainside Public Library on the day of the sale. The electronic map will be shared on the morning of September 19. Shoppers can sign up separately — at no cost — to receive sale-day tips and access to the electronic map.

PAL promotes the sale in area newspapers during August and September and is encouraging residents to register, spread the word, and take part.
