Maria Torres · Union County Life

RWJBarnabas Health, Clara Maass Medical Center, and the New Jersey Reentry Corporation (NJRC) have partnered to launch a Street Medicine Team that brings medical care directly to people facing barriers to traditional healthcare. The program represents an innovative approach to serving vulnerable populations in Elizabeth with accessible, dignified healthcare.

Union County Life covers Elizabeth healthcare, community partnerships, and social services across all 21 Union County municipalities.

Program Leadership

The program is led by Dr. Edward J. Egan, Medical Director of the RWJBarnabas Health Street Medicine Program and a board-certified emergency medicine physician at Trinitas Regional Medical Center. Dr. Balpreet Grewal-Virk provides community-health leadership for the initiative.

First Clinic Launch

The Street Medicine Team will launch its first walk-in clinic at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at NJRC's Union Reentry Site located at 324 Trinity Place in Elizabeth. The site is accessible for residents seeking medical care.
