Westfield Opens Free Storm Debris Drop-Off Aug. 13–15

The Westfield Conservation Center will accept organic storm debris from residents without a permit on Thursday, August 13, Friday, August 14, and Saturday, August 15, 2026. The drop-off carries no cost to residents. Town Administrator Jim Gildea announced the permit waiver at Tuesday's town council meeting following severe thunderstorms the previous week.

Union County Life is reporting storm recovery resources for Westfield residents.

The Storms

Westfield experienced two storms during the week before the announcement. Town Administrator Gildea described the impact: "We did have two storms last week, particularly the Friday storm, very short-lived, rather impactful." PSE&G worked to restore power that was lost during the storms.

Debris Collection Details

The permit waiver covers organic debris such as branches from the Friday storm or from any storm during that week. Residents do not need a permit to drop off eligible debris during the three-day window.

Conservation Center Location and Hours

The Westfield Conservation Center is located at 1300 Lamberts Mill Road. Hours for the debris drop-off are:

Thursday, August 13: 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Friday, August 14: 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Saturday, August 15: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The debris drop-off is available at no charge. Residents should bring organic debris from the recent storms to take advantage of this service during the announced dates.
