Gymnastics: Blue Devils Look to Improve Upon Last Season

The Blue Devils enter the gym working to improve upon a 3–5 dual-meet record established last season. Leading the charge is junior quad-captain Maddie Lee, the defending Union County All-Around Champion. Lee captured the individual county crown last year with a stellar score of 35.5, propelling Westfield to a third-place podium finish at the Union County Championships with a team score of 104.275. The team later capped its postseason run by placing sixth at the NJSIAA Section C Championships.
Second-year head coach Melissa Greenwald, who is currently in her second tenure steering the program after previously leading the Blue Devils from 1999 to 2014, expresses high optimism for her roster despite its smaller size. Greenwald and assistant coach Tamara Zuckerman will rely on a unique leadership structure featuring a sophomore quad-captain core that includes Caitlin Gaeta, Maddie Borders, and Kayla Richman.
