New Providence Schools Kick Off 2026-27 Year Next Week

Maria Torres · Union County Life

New Providence students returned to class Thursday with a week of staff prep days, open houses, and orientations leading up to the first day. Teachers and staff reported Monday for opening day, followed by professional development Tuesday and Wednesday. Students returned Thursday, and Friday brought an early dismissal before the Labor Day weekend.

Before the first bell, three New Providence schools held events for new students and families. Allen W. Roberts School hosted a new student open house Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m. New Providence Middle School welcomed new students for orientation Wednesday from noon to 1:30 p.m. Salt Brook School followed Wednesday afternoon with its own new student orientation from 3:45 to 5 p.m.

Families looking for calendars, school supply lists, and additional back to school details found them on the New Providence School District's website.

The opening week combined staff preparation and professional development time with family-focused events designed to welcome new students and ease the transition into the school year.
